We are a concrete contractor in Columbia, MO that handles both halves of the job. Our crew breaks out the old concrete or asphalt with a Cat 308 and a hydraulic breaker, hauls it to a crusher, builds the base, and our concrete crew pours the new slab under our contract and our warranty. Parking lots, driveways, slabs, sidewalks, tear-out and replace. No teardown required. Concrete is our second front door alongside demolition, and the jobs that fit us best start around $10,000.

What we do

Three service lines, each with its own page. All three are removal only or removal and replacement, your choice.

Concrete removal

Slabs, sidewalks, patios, foundations and retaining walls. We saw-cut where the removal meets concrete that stays, break the rest with the hydraulic breaker, load it and haul it. Removal only is a normal job for us. A 1,200 sq ft foundation slab is out in a day, 30 to 40 tons off site.

Parking lot removal and replacement

Commercial lots, asphalt or concrete. We break or mill out the old surface, correct the base, and put back asphalt or concrete depending on traffic and budget. Church lots, apartment lots, small retail, office and shop lots. A 15,000 sq ft lot runs two to three weeks from tear-out to striping.

Driveway replacement

Tear out the old drive, rebuild the base, pour a 4-inch reinforced slab, 5 to 6 inches where trucks and RVs park. Two-car driveways, long rural drives, gravel-to-concrete conversions, aprons and sidewalk tie-ins.

What we don't do: concrete leveling, mudjacking or patch repair. If a slab has one bad panel or a trip edge, a leveling company is the right call. If enough is wrong with it that replacement is on the table, that is our job.

Who this is for

Property owners and property managers with a lot, a drive or a slab that needs replaced, not patched.

  • Commercial. Retail, office, shop and warehouse lots, loading aprons, dumpster pads, truck courts.
  • Churches. Parking lots that have outlived three seal coats, sidewalks that fail an accessibility walk-through, entry plazas.
  • Apartments and HOAs. Lots, drive lanes, pool decks, shared sidewalks and mail kiosks.
  • Larger residential. Long driveways, shop and barn slabs, pool and patio tear-outs going back to new concrete.

Small single-item jobs, a 60 sq ft stoop or one sidewalk square, are better served by a flatwork crew that does that all day. Our equipment and pricing make sense at $10,000 and up: enough square footage that mobilizing a 308, a breaker and trucks is the cheaper way to get it out, and enough concrete going back in that one crew on one contract saves real money.

How pricing works

Fixed price for mobilization, equipment and crew. Disposal is billed as a pass-through at actual loads and tonnage. Typical ranges for Mid-Missouri:

ItemTypical range
Concrete removal (slabs, drives, walks)$3–$7 per sq ft
Asphalt parking lot removal$1.50–$3.50 per sq ft
Concrete parking lot removal$3–$6 per sq ft
New concrete, placed and finished$8–$14 per sq ft
New asphalt, placed and rolled$4–$8 per sq ft
Disposal (pass-through)$40–$90 per ton
Typical driveway replacement$7,000–$14,000
Parking lot replacement, 15,000 sq ft$60,000–$150,000

Thickness, rebar, access and how much base work the subgrade needs move the number inside those ranges. A site visit gives a firm number. To start, get a written bid from photos and dimensions.

Removal only or removal and replacement

Both are fine. About half of our concrete work is removal only: a slab coming out ahead of a building addition, a pool deck going back to lawn, a lot being torn up for a new site plan. The other half is tear-out and pour-back on one contract. When we do both, the base gets built by the crew that saw the subgrade after the old slab came off, and there is one number to call if anything is wrong with the new concrete. When another contractor is pouring, we leave the subgrade cut and compacted to their spec and they take it from there.

Recycling

Broken concrete does not go to a landfill. It goes to a crusher in the Columbia area and comes back as base rock. On tear-out and replace jobs we can often bring a portion of that crushed material back to the same site as base for the new pour, which trims disposal tonnage and the base rock invoice at the same time. Asphalt millings are recycled the same way. Rebar and wire mesh are separated and scrapped.

Process

  • Site visit. Chris walks the job, measures, checks thickness at an edge or a core, looks at drainage, access and where the trucks will stage.
  • Written proposal. Fixed price for the work, disposal estimated by the ton, timeline, what is included and what is not.
  • Utilities and permits. Missouri One Call locate before we break anything. Right-of-way permits for work at the street in Columbia. Phasing for lots that need to stay partly open.
  • Execution. Saw cuts, break-out with the Cat 308, load and haul, base rock placed and compacted, then forms, steel and the pour.
  • Site left graded. Removal-only jobs end with a graded, compacted subgrade. Replacement jobs end with cured concrete, joints cut and edges backfilled.

Licensed and insured, with general liability, umbrella and workers' comp on file for property managers who need certificates before we mobilize. We work Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, Moberly, Fayette, Boonville, Ashland and the rest of Mid-Missouri within about 45 minutes of Columbia. Call (573) 234-6641.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you pour concrete or only remove it?

Both. We self-perform the removal with the Cat 308 and a hydraulic breaker, then our concrete crew forms, reinforces and pours the new slab under our contract and our warranty. You sign one proposal, get one invoice, and if the new concrete has a problem you call us, not a second company. We also offer asphalt replacement for parking lots where asphalt makes more sense. Removal only, with someone else pouring, is fine too.

Will you take a concrete job with no demolition?

Yes. Concrete is its own service line, not an add-on to a teardown. Parking lots, driveways, slabs, sidewalks and retaining walls come in on their own all the time. The fit is jobs around $10,000 and up: a full driveway, a church or apartment lot, a shop slab, a commercial tear-out and replace. A single stoop or one sidewalk square is better handled by a small flatwork crew, and we will say so.

How much does concrete removal cost per square foot?

Typical Mid-Missouri range is $3 to $7 per square foot for breaking, loading and hauling, with disposal billed as a pass-through at $40 to $90 per ton. A 4-inch unreinforced patio with open access sits at the low end. A 6-inch drive with rebar behind a fence sits at the high end. A 700 sq ft driveway removal usually lands between $2,100 and $4,900 before disposal. Asphalt lots run $1.50 to $3.50 per square foot to remove.

Do you do concrete leveling or repair?

No. We do not do concrete leveling, mudjacking, polyjacking, crack filling or patch repair. If one panel has settled and the rest of the slab is sound, a leveling company can lift it for a fraction of replacement, and that is who you should call. We come in when the slab, the base under it or the drainage across it is far enough gone that tear-out and a new pour is the right answer.

Asphalt or concrete for a parking lot?

New asphalt runs $4 to $8 per square foot, concrete $8 to $14. Asphalt is cheaper up front, needs seal coating every three to five years and an overlay around year 15 to 20. Concrete costs roughly twice as much, lasts 30 years or more and holds up under dumpster trucks and delivery traffic. A common split is concrete at dumpster pads, drive lanes and entrances with asphalt in the stalls. We price both so you can compare.

Do you recycle the concrete?

Yes. Broken concrete goes to a crusher in the Columbia area and comes back as base rock instead of going into a landfill. Asphalt millings are recycled the same way. Rebar and wire mesh are pulled and scrapped. On tear-out and replace jobs we can often haul a portion of that crushed rock back to the same site as base for the new slab, which trims both the disposal tonnage and the rock invoice.

Are you insured for commercial work?

Yes. We are licensed and insured with general liability, umbrella and workers' comp coverage, and we provide certificates of insurance to property managers, church boards and HOA boards before we mobilize. Additional insured endorsements are available on request. Chris sells, bids and runs the work himself, so the person who signed the proposal is the person on site when the breaker starts.
